SEIU members noted Chris’s support of training for home care and healthcare workers in his role as Deputy Executive Director of the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, and also his commitment to education in his work as an educator and School Board member.

“Chris has the right ideas and experience to solve our budget crisis, and he comes to the table with solutions that make sense,” said Jared Miller, a Children’s Case Manager at Behavioral Health Resources and member of SEIU Healthcare 1199NW. “His support for mental health services and training for healthcare workers will create jobs and ensures we’ll have the workforce we need to provide quality patient care in Olympia.”

“Chris has been a valuable partner in the effort to improve training and workforce development for health care and long-term care workers,” said Sharon Kitchel-Perdue, a home care worker and member of SEIU Healthcare 775NW’s Executive Board. “We need people like Chris – who understand the issues facing working families and are committed to fighting for a fair tax system, living wage jobs, and quality services for the most vulnerable.”

"Chris has the experience to lead on making sure that children in Washington get the high quality education they deserve- from early learning through higher education,” said Laura Tanzy, an in-home child care provider in Olympia and a member of SEIU 925. “Chris’s strong commitment to public workers will help ensure that our state continues to provide quality public services even in these challenging economic times.”

SEIU members from each local interviewed Chris Reykdal and other strong candidates in the race on issues that matter to working families, including jobs, the economy, and new revenues to support healthcare and education. Members were faced with a tough decision but overwhelmingly chose to support Chris Reykdal based on his experience.
